How to remove the background from a photo

    Open your photo

    Drop it on the editor, paste it, choose it from your device, or open it from an address. JPG, PNG and WebP all work.

    Press Remove background

    The people and things in the picture are found and cut out. Click anything it missed to add it, or tidy an edge with the Erase and Restore brush.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many photos you do.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The background is removed on your own device, in the browser. The models it uses are downloaded the first time and kept by your browser, so the next photo is faster.

How do I get a transparent background?

After Remove background, keep “Behind the objects” on None and download — the picture is saved as a PNG, which keeps the see-through parts.

How do I change the background to white or blue?

After the background is removed, choose White, Blue, Grey or Black under “Behind the objects”, then download.

It missed part of my photo. What can I do?

Use Pick objects and click the part that was missed, or switch to Brush and paint with Restore to bring it back. Erase rubs away anything that should have gone.

Can I make a passport photo with it?

Use the Passport Size Photo Maker: it finds the face, crops it to your country’s size, puts it on a white background and makes a sheet to print.
